480-year-old firearm discovered in Arizona described by researchers as the 'oldest' found in the US

This is vintage, not necessarily a sniper rifle.
Excavations along the Santa Cruz River in Southern Arizona brought to light a bronze cannon, or a wall gun, used during the 1539-1542 expedition led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado to the modern-day American Southwest.

The wall gun is the first ever to be found connected to the expedition, according to research published in the International Journal of Historical Archaeology on Nov. 21, 2024.

Rear bag dilemma

I’m really having an issue with seating my rifle (rear bag) I bench shoot not prone ,I’ve been threw numerous bags including making my own.I know its me it appears that I’m doing something wrong can’t seem to keep the rear of stock stable it slides either forwards or backwards.Could use some advice on what I’m doing wrong.Bergara HMR 6.5cm

338 Spectre loads

Just starting to do some load development with the 338 Spectre. All data is with new brass & CCI primers, neck tension sort of felt like it was all over the place so that might explain a few of the odd numbers. Velocities match quickload when I increase case capacity to 29.4gr H2O.

Not enough data for a consensus on anything yet, I'm just posting posting raw data so that anyone else who starts working on load can have it to reference. This first run was just a spread of powder weights to give me something to compare to QL and have a starting point.

Comparing to QL, it looks like I could go as high as 17.5gr before I start getting close to 35kpsi pressures that I want to limit thing to as a max. QL claims just over 100% fill at 17.5 but it always seems to overestimate so we'll see how much I can cram in there next time.

STACCATO XC VS HAYES CUSTOM COBRA

I can get a Staccato XC now and put an aluminum Grip on it as well as a Atlas flat short trigger (small hands), or wait and spend a tad more and get a HAYES CUSTOM COBRA which I have heard nothing but great things about. So for those that have had the AWESOME Fortune to handle both, thoughts? And for those that haven't but have a XC, have you done the Aluminum Grip mod and how did it shoot afterwards?
Thanks to all those who read and respond in advance.

SPR/DMR matches: What are you running?

I visited St. Augustine to watch a SPR/DMR comp this past weekend.
I saw a lot of high end kit. KAC, Larue, Geissele,.. S&B, Nightforce, Razors,... Lots of cans.
There were a handful of really talented shooters behind some of those rigs too.

I might have felt under-gunned if I competed that day with my "DMR" setup.
My DMR-ish upper is a mutt. Spikes CHF barrel, Colt BCG, BCM HG, Stiener 1-4 in ADM mount, Atlus QD bipods, etc...
DMR.jpg

Durable and good parts, but it only produces 1.5 minute 5 shot groups with match ammo.
I'm thinking about putting together a CLE Bartlein upper with a NF 2.5-10 or 1-8 before I jump into this style of comp now that I know what's expected of the shooters.

For those of you that compete with or work with dedicated SPR/DMR rifles, what are you running?

SOLD SPF PSA Jakl 556

PSA JAKL 13.7 5.56 FDE rifle with pin and welded keymo flash hider, upgraded charging handle, ambi- safety, full length handguard, and one mag.

I have run 200 flawless rounds through it. These rifles are fun to shoot and will scratch the SCAR-L itch without wiping out your bank account.

I'm selling because this was part of a trade deal and I am on a bullpup kick right now.

The rifle shows signs of use(mounting marks paint scratches, etc), but it isn't abused.

$SPF

I'm willing to take some trades +/- cash for the right deal. NO GLOCKS, P320S, OR GARAGE BUILDS PLEASE! Some trade interest for me are:
Bullpups, VHS-2/Hellion, WLVRN, and some semi auto pistols, Garmin's new chrono, tactical gear etc.

LIGHT, RAIL SECTION, SLING MOUNT, AND OPTIC AND MOUNT NOT INCLUDED.
