On the scout SH there was an advisory on the Equipment Forum that Natchez Shooter Supply had the scope in the title for $589. There were questions about whether these were in fact #800363 Weavers. The 800363 is of Japan manufacture, is MIL/MIL, has an illuminated reticle and is FFP. A Q&A on the Natchez website said they were not FFP and that they were MOA. On the scout SH I said that I was in and I would report back.

The scope arrived today and it is in fact an #800363 with illuminated reticle, FFP, enhanced mil-dot (mil-dot with .5mil hash marks) and made in Japan. Additionally, these scopes have parallax adjustment down to twenty five yards. I have not verified this by testing.

I have one of the earlier 3-15s that are Mil/MOA and it's optical qualities are exceptional considering the price range. I'll put this new one on one of my rifles and get back to you with a more complete evaluation.

They have made the MIL/MIL, MIL/MOA, and EDMR versions of this scope for a long time. They are top quality, just the features are a little lacking compared to some of the newer scopes. The glass is very good for the money. I would put the glass in the area of the Bushnell DMR. All of my Weavers tracked perfectly. I really liked the tool-less turrets. I can't believe Natchez still has them at that price. They have been on sale for over a year, and I have suggested them to many people due to the sale price making it a steal.

This is tempting. I have a weaver tactical grand slam midway special 3-10x40. I bought it on sale for under $300 if I remember right. It has been a great little scope for the money. Decent glass and tracking has been flawless. Would like to hear more opinions on this if anyone has experience with them.

I have the 4 to 20 version that i have been using for 3 years now. The tracking is right on, eye relief is constant through the power range and the glass has great resolution. Weaver tactical scopes are not hyped with full page glossy pictures like the ones you always see for sale in the classifieds. Hint!

Thanks for the info. I see you are plagued with the wrong hand disease as I am too!

I just received my scope from Natchez, and as Quarter Horse mentioned, this is indeed the Weaver optic that you want*. This is the 3rd example of this make/model that I have owned, and I have been very happy with them over the years. At the price, it's a SCORCHING deal. Realistically, these are pretty comparable in performance to an XTR II (with the exception of the 5 mil (Weaver) vs 10 mil (Burris) per-turn knobs), IMO.

*Assuming that you want a mil/mil FFP 3-15x50 optic with decent glass, good tracking, and a dated (but still fairly useful) reticle

i have a gen2 pst on order, but wondering if i should just get the weaver

These are the pros and cons that I have worked out of the Gen II PST over the Weaver

    Pros
    - Zero Stop
    - 10mil turrets
    - Better reticle
    - Better warranty I believe

    Cons
    - Made in the Philippines (to me that is a con versus Japan anyway)
    - New so it doesn't really have a track record yet but I am guessing it will be fine

I wound up going a different direction and cancelled my Gen II PST pre-order and got a Bushnell LRTSi 3-12x for my rifle as it was only about $200 more than the Gen II PST as I found a deal on the Bushnell.

i was considering the bushy 4.5-18, but it was a lot more than the gen2 pst. hopefully vortex sorted out the shotty QC on the pst's. i'd like to try the athlon ares, but still not willing to swallow that pill

I have one of the Weaver Tactical 3-15 illuminated EDMR mil/mil optics. I'll just comment that the warranty is a "limited/lifetime" warranty to the original owner. This may be something to think about especially if your going to buy one new at that price...meaning I typically see them used around that.

My optic works great for its original intended purpose, and it is one I'll never sell. It's on a 308 gas gun originally intended to be like a LEO 16/18" DMR patrol rifle with 500 yds max in mind. In that role 5 mils is no problem, don't need zero stops due to it having 23 mils of up travel and 4 down. It is in a Badger 20 moa mount. My weight goal is always around 24 oz max but I settled on this at 28 oz. Locking turrets are nice, the parallax is a little stiff, but it has loosened up over time. The parallax knob would be my only major complaint if one is going to try to use the rifle optic for observation work at varying distances.

Lots of great scope options now days, but I'm not sure at 586.00?

    blessings,
