Isle of man TT

John McGuinness for the win on 2 wheels.(is he even racing this year?)
that dude is nuts...

although i do like to watch the subaru videos with Higgins tearing it up.

I keep telling myself .... ONE DAY .... i will go... and watch the greatest moto race known to man.

McGuinness has dominated with 23 wins (various classes). But he was in a bad wreck a few months back and broke his back. Lucky to be alive I believe. He is not racing the TT this year and with the interview I saw friday he may never race again.

and Nicky Haden....

hope McGuiness can ride again... even if he docent race anymore ---- i don't think he's the type of guy that would give up riding.
-then honda pulls out....(scared of the bad moto pr)

amazon prime has some good older doc's on the TT. "Isle of Man TT by studiokippenberger" and "Hitting the Apex" even if it is narrated by brad pitt.
(i just found em a few months ago)

It's on my bucket list. Was trying to work it in for 2018... but you can't get reservations except 2 years in advance. And most reservations seem to be inherited or something... Was debating taking the ferry over there this fall and riding around a bit, just to see the place. But I have some other things I want to do...

Next spring, however, LeMans! I've wanted to go to that forever...

Cheers,

Sirhr

2017 LeMans coming soon also (2 weeks i think). That is on my bucket list as well.
looked in to the TT a couple years back also. Getting tickets/accommodations for the practice/qualifing week prior to race week was not impossible but was still a 2 year wait. Never found anything for the week of the race.

We've enjoyed the yearly vids we all post of Isle of Man in the Pit or Maggies. People living on the edge and some then not. Fascinating as all hell for sure. I'd actually enjoy being there for it, but again, I still enjoy life and have become a scaredy-cat in the latter years........

Definitely want to go... but you can't get reservations except by inheriting them. Even tents are impossible. Good luck getting ferry reservations. Been trying for three years to figure out how to do reservations. Everything is sold out... the minute it comes online.

It's become such a Mecca for motorsport enthusiasts (and bloodsport enthusiasts) that it's impossible to get to. A bit like London-to-Brighton.

But I would love to see it. Or just ride the course (at normal street speeds) just to say I'd been there. So much amazing talent to survive, much less win.

Still planning on LeMans in '18.

If anyone wants an AMAZING CONUS racing experience... head for the 24 Hours of Daytona. It's a fantastic race. Great fun. Total carnival. Mini LeMans at a time of year when it's cheap to go to Daytona... our beachfront hotel room just a mile from the Speedway was $90 a night! Tickets were peanuts. It's a fantastic time. Great racing. The privateer cars are the best to watch. Shoestring budgets, cool cars. So much to do for a couple of days!

Cheers,

Agreed. I haven't been to Daytona in many years but raced motorcycles there in my college days and did loads of spectating.

I'll just say it flatout. On my best day on a bike I never had what it takes to even dream Isle of Mann. Those riders are something insane.
