This is actually pretty funny. In the case of the tanker, the vacuum is inside the tank. The outside air pressure crushes it. In space the vacuum is outside the suit.

Yeah and it's also a function of surface area. Force = Pressure X Area. You can apply a small amount of vacuum pressure to a small area with little no no effects but put that same vacuum onto a large area and you get the tanker crushing dramatic video above. But hey, we live in a meme world.
