Saying you're destroying the planet by using fossil fuels is like saying I destroyed your office by moving the stapler on your desk.

Ever had a beer or soft drink go flat? Know why that happens? The colder a liquid is the more dissolved gases it can hold. As it heats up, it becomes oversaturated, and releases gasses. All the carbon we ever used in fuels are carbon that is already present on Earth. A real CO2 crisis will be if we brought in tankers full of propane and butane from Jupiter to burn here on Earth. We do that for a few centuries and we might have a problem here. But no. And "fossil fuels" is a misnomer too. It takes far less than millions of years for oil to be generated. Under humid and anaerobic conditions, dead animals (and humans too) turn into adipocere and kerogen. That is fat and flesh turned into solid hydrocarbons. Now if that is pressed into a warmer and deeper part of the ground, adipocere liquifies into crude oil. That is how the oil wells in Texas and Oklahoma that were thought to be dried out are found to be continuously refilled with new crude. It is being generated constantly via natural processes.
