American and European rails?

I know of two types of rails on the market, American and European rails. Is every American rail have the same mesurements? Same question of the European model?

Do they have one mesurement or can they vary? From year to year?

Anschutz and Freeland/Winchester rails

American (free land) rails have a slot that measures about 5/16" wide, European rails ( Anschutz) slot measures about 10 mm wide
