accidently shot some moly....do I worry or what??

Golden rule re-learned: NEVER let anyone borrow your rifle....lol

went shooting today and a buddy wanted to try out my stealth upper. Told him he could shoot it as much as he wanted as long as he provided the ammo---he's not that good of a buddy.

anyway, he accidently picked up a box of moly coated blackhills ammo. He put about ten rounds down range with it before I noticed.

Do i need to do anything to get rid of the moly? Do I even need to worry since it was only 10 rounds?

any help would be appreciated fellas.....

Shoot a couple 30 round mags through it with standard m193, that should heat up the barrel to get any moly coating loose.
Swab the barrel a few times, you should be GTG.

Use a water based cleaner like MPPro7 (aka Hoppies Elite) or Barret Bore cleaner and if you are worried or have issues try one of the fine abrasive (aka JB Bore cleaner in the old days) type cleaners.

Google removing moly and should come up with a 100 different ways ;-).

Butch's Bore shine should do just fine. I've shot 100 or so rounds of it through mine and have had no issues after cleaning with Butch's.

CR-10 is good for removing moly...but I wouldn't worry about it with tht limited number of rounds. It will work its way out through normal shooting and cleaning.

I shot a box of moly black hills through my savage and my accuracy never suffered. It is still very accurate and cleaning is few a far between. I wouldn't worry but thats just me and my rifle. My customs have never seen moly but they have only seen one load for each anyway. Good luck

Some historical issues with moly and moisture resulting in corrosion and with long term build up resulting in issues.
