I know it's a bad idea to use a 30mm ring for a 34mm tube for mounting...

I looked around for some 34mm scope levels and they are bit harder to find. brownells has one which is a 30mm, so i wanted to ask if putting a 30mm scope level is ok on a 34mm tube. I assume you won't be able to tighten down all the way, but I can't think of anything else. it's not like a scope ring where the ring might end up moving around etc...

if not, I guess I'll wait on the vortex one that midway has to go back in stock.

thanks!

I was asking regarding a level, but I'm assuming you mean ring as in scope level ring.

I believe this is because you might crush the tube

Well it depends on if you are dead set on mounting to scope, USO makes a rail mounted version of what you looked at that will work the same as a ring mounted. As long as your scope is mounted correctly, there should be no problems

I'm a big fan of the USO level...

The bubble reads plumb when the pic rail is level. If you've got a good scope where the reticle is true to the flat bottom, the reticle (when you use tge feeler gage method) will also be parallel/true to the pic rail. Therefore, the reticle is level when the bubble is.

It even folds up out of the way. Nice design.
