I know, I know, cowboy up. But it really is not enjoyable. It's a 24" barrel, and I have only shot it less that 10 times. I need a better stock for dampening. Here it is. Any ideas? Thanks

LOL. No..This is not my first "sniper" . Great post that was. .. I don't know if I'd even classify it as an accurate and consisent shooter. Well, maybe, but I won't use it as such. I'd just rather shoot it and enjoy it more.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

I'd identify how the muzzle brake is attached (threaded or pressed on). There are more effecient muzzle brakes available.

Weight. Looks like a nice light weight shooter for a .50. Lightweight and .50bmg is a very careful marriage. Find a cheap A2 stock and add some lead weight to the cleaning kit cavity and give it a try. Every pound on the rifle will reduce the percieved recoil. If this is a carry gun/woods gun then "dealing" with the recoil/muzzle blast is the reality of it. If it's a bench rifle...add weight. There is a reason the Armalite AR50 or McMillin bros rifles perform well for their intended missions...weight/muzzle brake combos. Enjoy your .50!

Yes, they are addictive. I am a slidefire dealer if anybody is interested. The 50 is just a bench gun. The brake is a screw-on. I have some A2 stocks that I can install. So I can put some lead shot in the tool cavity back there? I know the Colt I took off has space, I wonder if the A2 stock off the DPMS I took off has the opening?

***EDIT*** I should have said I can get Slidefires for a reasonable price. Thanks. PM for details.

They make lead wedges specifically to fit in and weigh down the A2 stock, for the national match shooters.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

I had pretty much that same setup, only difference was that mine had a fluted barrel. They do have a ton of recoil. Not much you can do that would make any significant difference without changing the muzzle brake. they are just really lightweight and that plus 50BMG equals sore shoulder.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

I've been behind several 50s from a 23lb Serbu with a brake similar to yours to a 46lb Unlimited Class AR50. The brake makes a big difference to me. I think the more surface area a brake has, the better it works. I shot a stock AR50 beside a 46lb Unlimited Class AR50 and there wasn't much difference in recoil. I also shot a stock AR50 beside a stock Grizzly and the Grizzly hit me a lot harder even though they were close to the same weight. The AR50 has a better brake. A 32lb-35lb rifle with a good brake is pretty easy even after 50-60 rounds from prone in 2 days. Try talking to somebody from the FCSA, those guys can give some good advice.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

I know a few guys were putting AR50 breaks on the Serbu's from Marks first production run.

Look at the loads you are using also. My 750 Amax and Lapua loads aren't the most comfortable.

If you want some close up pics PM me. very comfortable to shoot. The breaks on the ba50 and the AR50 are huge and not as slick as the shark gill style breaks, but it you want to enjoy the shooting it a great upgrade. Also she shoulder saver on the prs stock makes for a very soft recoil. when combined.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

Love to see some pics. I'll pm you tomorrow for them. I hope I don't need to buy the whole buttstock for the shoulder saver in that flavor. I'll call tomorrow for the brake and SS.

Re: My 50BMG Ligamec is killing my shoulder !

Today in my mail box was a Sinclair mag and on page 226 they had a recoil pad and adapter for Magpul part number 749-009-413SB still say grab one of the breaks as well. But that might save you from purchasing the entire stock.?
