LaRue announced their PredatOBR at SHOT. It's the lightweight PredatAR chassis with the heavy OBR barrel and port selector. They'll offer both 7.62 and 5.56 versions. Looks like a winner.

I wonder if they'd sell just the 5.56 upper to drop onto the LaRue lower I got back in the pre-OBR days…

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

Not many Larue fans here, sounds like Mark has some issues but no matter how U sum it up " He makes damn good guns ". I cannot wait to see the Predatar 7.62 with OBR barrel, I think I will get One.

It sounds like that's for the Costa edition and that the regular PredatOBRs will become standard items. We'll see!

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

he makes a great rifle, but he is really playing off his die hard fan base which i guess is cool and all but i just dont see his stuff as the game changer his followers believe

lets see,

take a predator, add a 50 dollar switch block, swap in the heavier OBR barrel no increase in cost, and add a 150 dollar surefire brake, and poof. you just raised the price of your predator by 500 bucks.

throw on the costa ludas logo, and bam. you just raised the price again

It's obvious his fanbase is solid. The guy keeps selling shit like there is no tomorrow. To his followers, I assume without any research, it doesn't matter if what they are buying is a game changer product. If it works for them, however basic or boring it may be or whether its not a game changer in the eye of someone outside of their "clique," and it has the LaRue name behind it then that's enough influence over them to buy it and drool over it in hand. Oh well, right?

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

KAC got similar money for special edition SR15s.

The hybrid has the OBR trigger, extra rail panels and CTR stock as well. Those things cost money. About $250 more at retail than the parts in the predatar.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

The changes from the standard Predatar cures the reservations I had about getting one. Whether I will get one of the new ones for $2K is undecided. I feel like I got my money's worth on the full OBR which I consider to be a type of sniper rifle. I'd like something a little lighter for other uses, but the pencil barrel had me turned off.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

Beautiful weapon, I got a chance to play with one (minus range time) could've been an OBR (most likely) at a warrior expo in Pendleton, i was impressed, i've read some good reviews on them too!

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

Might be some Larue haters around, but everything I've seen has been positive for those rifles. Maybe I'm missing the bad if it's out there. Good idea, but that is a retarded ass name. I'd so want one of the 14.5" rifles otherwise...

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

Does anyone know how much the PredatORB weighs in at? Thinking 18" bbl. I like slim forearms and trim rifles, but I was turned off by the pencil PredatAR bbl. The new hybrid PredatOBR seems like a nice combo.

Per Mark Fingar in TOS video, 16" are:

7.62 PredatOBR 8.2 lbs
5.56 PredatOBR 7.9 lbs

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

The 7.62 PredatOBR looks pretty good. It's high on the list. I try to stay away from the politics of the company and forum users. Thank goodness for MIL/LE pricing. It's not a huge discount but beats paying full price.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

The Costa Ludas limited edition is $2800, from a report I read. Does anyone know if it adds any more content than FDE paint and a number? If not, I'd save the $800 and Duracoat it myself.

But maybe it comes with the Surefire light and the T1 micro?

I would much rather assemble my own rifle for 2k and put a thousand in my pocket than spend 3k on one though.

</div></div>Well, the OBR and PredatOBR are $2k, and the PredatAR is $1500. This Costa edition is supposed to be more, just trying to figure out why.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

$3k is getting there for sure. The release models for $2499 were a good deal, especially when they were including a scope mount, VTAC sling, QD rail mount, etc etc.

That was my understanding as well, as this one wouldn't cost as much to build as the OBR.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

New guy here. And figured I'd post in here. Ordered mine from Sheldon today. Very excited to get it. Was told about 14 weeks out. Will post up some pictures when it comes in. I was also thinking it would be priced between the AR and the OBR. But I was wrong. Either way, can't wait to get it.

One can say the same about Mark. The guy carries more baggage than anyone I've ever known.

Re: LaRue PredatOBR

Why did it take so long to make a predatar version with the heavier barrel? Couldn't they just swap it over as a special order?

Seriously, what are the issues, certain hide members have with Mark Larue????

I am curious, because I am thinking of ordering one of these PredatOBR 5.56's

Their stuff is a great value based on the Stealth and the OBR 762 I have owned. Flat out some of the most accurate rifles I have ever shot. Their QC has been prefect on every piece of gear I have bought from them. From mounts, to complete rifles. I agree on wait times, but I look at it just like something I order from Jered or George. Top notch quality leads to wait times. I hate wait times, and often go another route just because of it. But this is no knock on Mark, Jered or George. It still sucks though.

I dont get into the politics of rifles. I personally like Mark from the limited interactions I have had, but even if I didnt, as long as he took care of me, I woudlnt care. I am not buying his personality, I am buying his products. His warranty is as good as it gets, just like his product.

So, whatever, I guess. To each his own.
