Ok so some time ago when i first got into F-class/plinking with a rem700 in 308 i upgraded instantly to a Choate ultimate sniper stock the problem i faced instantly was a horrible eye relief due to my Badger ordinance Max 50 rings (30mm)this was even with the higher cheek piece installed...

The quest began to try and find a suitable riser for my cheek piece on this particular stock and well because of the skeleton type stock couldn't find anything without having to cut into the actual stock which i wasn't keen on doing for fear of damaging the integrity of the butt.

so out come the pen and paper after looking at a Karsten saddle cheek piece.

I ended up with 2 pieces of 4 mm aluminium by approx 1 inch folded over by hand over the back of the butt with some holes drilled as closely as i could to the underside of the skeleton top.

so what i then went and did was attach the Karsten saddle over the top of aluminum U shaped pieces and once tightened was rock solid with no movement at all.

Has anyone ever tried this approach with a skeleton type stock before?

I hope this helps those that have this type of Choate stock or the varmint.

Any thoughts as to if there was a better way?

...now I feel really stupid

also they sell "risers" for the stock itself straight from choate or other vendors

but the spacers (washers, etc.) would give you a "a sweet spot" that goldilocks would find just right.

also 4 nuts added to the existing screws or replacement screw would add adjustability and allow it to be locked into place.

no need to, we've all been there. sometimes tinkering or thinking out of the box leads to simple and easy solutions.
