Rifle was bought new by the previous owner. It looks like the J lock has been replaced. I know it is pre X mark trigger. I was told it is a 700P. I wanted to see what you guys thought. He bought the rifle like this and has done nothing to it.

Stock is a HS Precision and the magazine is by magwell.

What do you think???? I just bought it for 930, good deal? has been fired 128 rounds. holds .5 MOA with FGMM ammo.

I only got the rifle not rings, bipod, or scope

Thats what I'm trying to figure out if this rifle is all factory. The barrel is factory stamped remington so I assume it is factory to the rifle and he did say it was 26"

Yes after getting more pics on my cell phone I realized it is the direct replacement for the factory BDL. Its made by HS Precision and fits perfectly in this stock. I'm thinking this was something someone ordered from remington? Or maybe the guys at the gun shop built it off of a factory 700P to what it is before it was sold to the now previous owner.

So what should I chop it down to?

    Thanks

    Re: Factory remington???

Chop it down? The barrel length? Depends on the rifling. If its 1 in 12 ( which is likely) then 26 inches is good. With some faster rifling like 1 in 10 you can go down to 18 inches theoretically and still achieve great accuracy.

    Re: Factory remington???

    308 came with a 1:12 twist

    223 a 1:9

    and the 300 had a 1:10

    According to Remington

Looks like the bolt shroud has been changed and the best I can tell it looks like the trigger may have been changed as well. The trigger looks like it has a metallic finish on it, not the black that usually comes on a stock Remington.

    Re: Factory remington???

I would probably take 2" off the front of the barrel and then have it set back and rechambered. These things have long ass throats, then take the 2" you had cut off and have the smith make a chamber gauge out of it. You would end up with a barrel just a tad under 24", it would look better in that stock and you would know that you could load mag length ammo and get the best possible accuracy out of that barrel. That for end on the stock is for a shorter barrel.
