I was sold on the HDMR with H59 reticle but have been scared off due to PM's of owners and alot of them for sale on the forum.

I was looking to spend around 1670 on one.

I am now looking at the Leupold Mk4 with Locking Turret
Mk4

I would be shelling out about 2k plus shipping on this scope.

I can't find much on this scope besides LL small review.

Anyone have any comments on this scope (good, bad)

or another scope I should be looking at for the same price range?

If you can live without the Horus reticle then I'd take a hard look at the Vortex Razors. If you want a "tree" reticle you can go with an EBR-2B.

I really like mine, so much that I have 3 of them now with eyes to buy a 4th in the coming months.

NF F1, or hold out for a month or two and save up another 500 or 600 and look for a nice used Premier reticle or S&B

Personally, I'd pony up for the Vortex. You can also get an HDMR with the excellent G2 reticle + Rings for the same price. I love my hdmr...

I assume you are looking to buy new?

I have 3 HDMR/H59's. They are great scopes. Mine don't have the CA. Definitely the best bang for the buck with a Horus reticle. Also I like the H-59 better than the H-58. No Illume though.

The NF-F1/H-58 is a great scope as well. I own one of them too. They'll cost you about $2800 new though which was my only gripe.

I'm unfamiliar with the new MK4.

Sometimes you can find used USO's with Horus reticles for close to $2000.

Another vote for the Nightforce F1 which is a little over your $2K price

If you can come up with another $500-$600 you will be able to get into a good used Premier or S&B.

From one soldier to another...

I'm very happy with my HDMR. I love this thing. I've had few people look through it at the range and they love it. one of them had a S&B on his and we switched rifles for few rounds and he loved the bushy. I loved his S&B but I didn't love it for close to 3 times th e cost. lol

and if you hate it that bad, bushy will refund you the money...

it's worth a shot man. it really is. I had 2. (H58, then a H59)

I'd get the hdmr with gap reticule from liberty optics for the 308 (probably use rings rather than mount for POF) and choose a different optic for the 223. something 2.5-10ish.

I was in your exact same boat about 2 months ago. But decided to pull the trigger on the HDMR w/H59. I must say i can notice alittle CA in mine, but overall it's still a damn fine scope.

Definitely nothing in my experiences with it so far that i would advise against one. I think even with some of the possible issues, it's still a fantastic deal. I'd imagine most of those you have seen for sale are likely overflow and flip units that folks bought as part of the Group Buy awhile back.

Bohem,

What do you like best about your Razor HD EBR-2B? Do you find that you cannot see the impact with the thicker dots; vs. the EBR-2?

I am considering the purchase of the Razor HD EBR-2 or 2B!

Thanks for the help guys. I settled on a HDMR with H58, got a good price and can't wait to get it to the range.

I'd also look into when the Mark 6 was going to be available, I like the looks of the compact package.

from what I have read that Nark 6 is badass,

I seriously doubt that you would find fault with a Nightforce F1. A new one will be a little more cash or used come up every now & again. The NF F1 will take far more heavy usage (abuse) than the others.

imo if your gonna spend around 2k on a scope, go with the nightforce f1 or a leupy mk4 ffp. they will impress the hell outta you and you'll never look back.
