Accuracy International Barrels Question

Gent's,

Is there any identifying proof marks which indicate who made the barrel on AI rifles? I've read some are Bartlein, Border, Lothar, etc. Moreover, how can you identify if it was button rifled or cut rifled? Just curious???

All AI guns assembled here in the States for the most part have our barrels. Some guns brought over from the U.K. have a European barrel on it but some guys have purchased guns and had those barrels taken off and upgraded to our barrel by AI.

Probably first tell tale sign is look at the rifling. All of our barrels on AI guns have 5R rifling. Most of the buttons are either 4 or 6 groove. Maybe some of the cut are 4 groove? Not sure.

Probably some of the Border barrels might be 5R. Not sure. Rest are button and to my knowledge no 5R's.

Best thing to do is to call AI. Give them the s/n of the gun. They should be able to confirm what is on it for you. Also supposedly guns assembled here in the States have different stampings on the barrels as well.

The Bartleins I chamber for AI are engraved AINA along with the caliber in two places.

Awesome, thank you for the clarification. I'll check my barrel tonight. Also, I purchased an AE MkIII last fall. However, I had Mile High spin on an older 24" barrel as, I had them thread & attach a factory AI muzzle brake. Therefore, the serial # won't be of any help - I appreciate the information though!
