Hi guy's question and may be some one here can help.I picked up the first demo model of the new fn tsr xp in .308 caliber.I couldnt resist due to the fact that the fn sales and marketing mgr happens to be a good friend working in the McLean V.A headquarters. It has never been shot.other then test fired.my question is,do you think it is comparable to the Remington police bolt rifle in terms of accuracy? I'm not a collector and plan shooting the daylights out of this rifle. As well as my Remington 700 police as I shoot that more so then the other rifles I currently own. It has a full aluminum bedding block and a heavy fluted barrel..I don't know the twist rate either.so was going to the standard 165 grain Sierra match.would anyone know the desired purpose from fn for this rifle?

Re: New fn tsr xp 308

I have had two of the older ones from CDNN, The first one was traded to me and traded cheap, took it to the range and even in the hogue stock it was a f-in laser. Ended up selling it to a buddy looking for a 308. The 2nd one was in a McM stock which I got here off the hide. It to was a laser. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if the price is right. My FIL used to think more barrel more barrel but have him sold that he can do just as much with a 20" barrel as he can with 26"...

Between the FN and the Rem SPS, I would take the FN all day long... Stock choice is a little slim for the cheaper stuff but I mostly crack McM's anyway so that doesn't bother me.

Agreed. FN's Winchester bolt is much smoother than the factory Remington bolt. My FN SPR shoots as well as the SAKO TRG22

Does TSR have chrome lined barrel like the SPR?

Re: New fn tsr xp 308

The TSR XP has a hammer forged but not chrome lined barrel. Also, the new Hogue stocks has an aluminum rod in the forend. I have the pillar model and I know it's not a Manners, etc. but you can squeeze the piss out of the stock/barrel at the end and still not affect the float.
Having owned and still own some 700's, I would but the FN first as well.

Oh, one in twelve twist and shoots 175's (Blackhills and FGMM) into averaging .6 groups.
