Took the furthest poke i've tried yet with my 308. I won't say it was the classic bang clang that you hope for, but i did manage two hits and a lot of really close misses. Funny how 1100 can be hit with regularity, but toss another 100 on there and you start to feel like an idiot flinging lead. Once i got my elevation set i hit 2 for 6, which in the calmish switchy wind i didn't feel was all that bad. started around 8 mph 1/4 value and then fell to 3-4 average, but kept changing direction.

57 moa up to get there at 400 asl and 52 degrees. storm rolling in and baro falling

Load :
178 amax
42.2 imr4064
lapua brass
cci primer
seated off lands by alot, but it works for whatever reason in my sps

the strikes were nose on still, so im guessing i can stretch it even further next time but the groups are starting to widen out a bunch.

first time in awhile i put the accushot pod back on instead of a bag too. i dont know if it was me or the rigid rear support but i was flying high by about 1.5-2 moa off my 1100 dope, and 3 moa high off my shooter apps' prediction at 1200.

anyway, here is some eye candy. used my old goose blind to hang a disk.

Re: 1197 with my 308

i was thinking of paper machete around the outside to widen it, lol. It is one of those clamp on deals. i was always curious about them and these weren't perm or expensive so i gave it a try. verdict = like it, but it is fuckin ugly.
but hey the whole rifle is kinda ugly, in a really sexy way :} barrel sports a paint job from a previous stock, inletting on bm is so-so as i did it myself, feet on the bipod were a 30 minute mig weld job, paint job on scope was awesome and then i fucked it up shooting in the rain and beating it up, but it all boils down to......she hits.

Re: 1197 with my 308

mm, thanks. yeah had it been full width /height i saw two more in the wood that def would have connected behind the scope in the pic. possibly a third just right. and if a standing target the one in the plywood leading up to my rifle would have connected (the slash just left and down of my rangefinder in pic). i was pretty pumped. all very close once i got el sorted out.

omt- I live and work on my families 450 acre farm. furthest line of sight is 1716 yards. just havent gone that far yet.

yup, that happened. 2nd round, and something like the 5th and 8th. hard to tell as no ring and a little far to see splash every time.

72 up, 15 moa left, in a 12-15 mph wind. I ran out at 59 so i dialed down to 52 and held over 20 and off 15 (three fence posts in this case. that was FFFUUUNNNNNNNNN!

Re: 1197 with my 308

We can do 1250 regularly with the 175 smk or 208 amax out of out 308 but the 168 amax falls short in the consistancy department at that distance. We are shooting at 4500'-4700' so I know that helps some. What elevation are you guys shooting at?

Re: 1197 with my 308

Nice work.

Farthest I've taken the .308 with SMK is ~1175 on MOA plates & 900 or so on coyotes.

I'll be looking into playing with the 208 AMax for further out.
