SI Defense 300 BLK Barrel

Re: SI Defense 300 BLK Barrel

Negative, I physicaly opened up the existing gas port on the barrel. The inside diameter of an AR gas tube is .124 so anything over that diameter is pointless. I usually use a #31 drill bit(.120)

Re: SI Defense 300 BLK Barrel

I also had to open up the gas block on mine for reliable subsonic cycling without a can. I have an adjustable gas block but still needed to open it up just a hair. I can't remember the drill bit I used but I think the .120 sounds close.

I'm still waiting for my suppressor so I haven't really shot mine that much. Seemed to shoot pretty well. I have a .223 Wylde SI-Defense Barrel and it runs fine.

Re: SI Defense 300 BLK Barrel

I got my can and tested it out. The SI Defense barrel ran great suppressed and grouped nicely (I was only shooting about 25 yards with iron sights). Considering the price I think it was a great investment for a "fun" gun.

220 SMK 300 BLK through a TBAC 30P1 is silly quiet - I was shocked. All I hear is the gun cycling.

Re: SI Defense 300 BLK Barrel

I just put one on backorder today with Midway, anyone else using one of these barrels?

I never thought about it but that makes perfect sense since the gastube diameter is a limiting factor.
