Im looking for a good target shooting handload for a ar-15 with a 20" barrel 1:8 twist using sierra 69gr. hpbt and varget. Any help would be appreciated. Im going to test with weekend, just want to see whats good for others.

I used to run the 77 with 24.5 varget in Win case at mag length and have switched to the 69 with the same load with good results up to 300yds in service rifle matches.
download a bit and work up for your rifle.

In NRA HP circles, we shoot what you have listed with LC brass and a stout primer such as Rem 7.5 or CCI41/BR4/450. 25gn Varget is a fairly "standard load". Seated to mag length. If it doesn't shoot, its probably not the load.

The sierra acc load works great for me. I decided to go with the 68 hornady bthp, a bit cheaper, higher BC, and it shot better for me. Went with 23.5 of Benchmark for them.

varget and RL-15 so far have been the best groups with the 69
best sub group was 24.5 of RL-15 win brass 205M and with the 75gr
bthp Hornady 24gr of varget with win brass 205M all shot good groups past 300 yds......

Start with 24.0 grs. WW748 & go up. You will probably smile in the 25.5 gr. range.

25 grains of Accurate 2520 with 69gr SMK and CCI small rifle magnum primers has proved really accurate out of my 16in RRA Operator.
