Gunsmithing what barrel twist for 20" creedmoor

I have been looking at various manufacturers 6.5 creedmoor barrels and they mostly go with and 8 or 8.5.( Krieger, Rock, etc.)

Lmt has one now with a 9 twist.....but doesn't state the length.

slight oversight I guess.

Does a 9 twist favor a slightly heavier bullet and an 8 lighter bullet? or do I have it backwards.

I'm actually planning on ordering from Krieger and will talk to them about it but was just curious after seeing the LMT today.

Thanks guys,
Jim

Faster twist = longer (and heavier) bullets, slower twist = shorter and lighter weights.

I use a 8.4 twist and dont see any reason to go faster. I am shooting 130, 139, 140 and 142 match bullets and VLD's

I use 1-8" twist rate for all of my 6.5's and I shoot 130-142g bullets depending on the case. I have seen any number of 6.5's using 1-8.5" twists and doing well so there are options.

Someday I may try 1-8.5" barrels.
