It's a plastic piece with a thick rubber like material molded over the plastic base.

It feels very much like the overmolding on Hogue stocks and grips.

They are slightly softer than the plastic,but not um squishy like a sponge. Michael did a great job on these and you can tell when you shoulder the weapon and look through your scope.

Also looking forward to this write up. These have me very curious if I need to upgrade mine, sounds that way....
