I know a guy who fired 7mm-08 rounds down his 308 rifle, so yea, it can work - in many different ways.
**I do not recommend 7mm-08 rounds down a 308 tube.

Not to go off topic, but I got a .308 Rem 7400 in that no shit had a .308 round go down the tube of a .270.

I would change your 308 into a 6.5 creedmoor.
You can get 24.00 box of ammo and it will smoke the 308 in every category ( except being a nato caliber )

Oh okay! My bad I was thinking the smith who did the barrel cold open it up a bit...should probably go ahead and throw that bolt in a lathe anyway if he's gonna spend the jack for a new barrel.

Im making the switch from 308 to 7-08 in a few weeks when my barrel comes in. 162amax is high bc and im going to push them out of a 26" barrel.
