i loaded 42 gr RL17 in the ol 6.5creedmoor and got 2920 fps with the 140 amax but...... barrel pooped out about 1800 rds. Dont know if it was the powder, shitty barrel ....... just seems like a short barrel life for the creedy

My experience with this "swap" is in the 300wm with 180gn NosAB and the 25-06 with 100gn NBT. I am waiting on my Stiller Tac30AW and metal from the group buy to start my 6.5cm build. I will be looking into this combo, but with the H4350/140amax load so easy to build, is it really worth it to chase the extra velocity? Just maybe, according to the thread below, which shows some pretty healthy increases in MV. You will have to be the judge.

I suspect it had something more to do with the powder because my last 6.5CM tube went 3100 with 41.9gr of H4350 under the 140 Amax and I BEAT on that barrel. Many times it went out for 100+rd days and movers practice with 50rd going downrange in under 5mins.

It was still shooting about 3/8MOA (up from in the teens) when I pulled it but the zero was wandering around 1/2-5/8 MOA and starting to throw occasional flyers.

ETA:

OP - Send me a PM and I'll help you tune up the RL17 load so you can minimize the amount of testing you have to do with it.

+1

I got about the same life with the RL-17 as well. It's a high intensity powder and there's no free lunch...

I changed to H4350 for the new barrel
