For 168gr bullet how much grains of varget do you use for
best accuracy?? </div></div>

My most accurate 168gr Hornady load is:
Win brass neck sized 1x fired.
Rem 9.5 primer.
Varget 44.8gr.
2.193 Ogive OAL .010 off the lands.

5 shot group measured .568 inch at 100 yards from a Savage 10 FCP-K. Still under load development. Load development is moving slowly because I no longer care for the 168's. I'm focused on the 175 SMK's and then will try 208's. As always work your way up to be safe.

Re: Varget or Vihtavuori

N140 is a good alternative for Varget in .223 and .308 and is what I use. Never had any issues with temp stability and get good accuracy. I use N150 for the 175 SMK's and get 2550 out of a 20" barrel, not great but makes it to 1K.

Re: Varget or Vihtavuori

41-42.5 vvn140 is the Shit w a 168 Amax. But so is 44.5 gr of Varget win brass win primer with both powders. I go with whichever is cheaper, mostly cause I'm well, cheap.. if i had a lot of money I'd go with the n140, why cause Vargets a little tramp she's taking everyone's load...

Re: Varget or Vihtavuori

i use varget in my 223 and 308. it holds up well against humidity and tempeture swings. plus its a lot easier to purchase. you can find it at most shops

Re: Varget or Vihtavuori

Try 37.3 Viht 135, behind a 168 BTHP.2.8-2.9 col. Doesn't matter, by my shots. That's my slow "pet" load, for my 308 5R. Shoots flies, at 100. My Varget load is 44.7. Hot load, at 2.96, in my 5R. It also shoots flies, only have to say, shoots 1/2-3/4 low, in my gun, that's centered on the viht load. I adjust, for the hot load.Viht's a great powder. Varget's a little cheaper.
