I have the sn3, it is brand new. this has happened twice now. I zeroed the scope, shot a match, the next day checked zero and it was .3 high and.1 right, I rezeroed, shot another match last weekend, it was .3 low and .1 right.

second, I have the zero lined up on the erek knob, and the hash marks seem to be off when I get out to about 1.5 mils. I am not sure if i am at 1.6 or 1.7 without counting. I called us optics and they said to mail it back and it would take 4 weeks minimum turn around. I have another match in 3 weeks........I am slowly becoming less of a fan of my new scope. I either have to miss my match or shoot it with a scope that wont track.........Has anyone else had this issue with the sn3?

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

Do you have an EREK? If so have you been setting zero the correct way? To have a shift that goes exactly in and out like you said doesn't sound like a scope issue. Are you keeping the same scope picture?

Are you cleaning between when the shift happens?

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

Yeah, base and rings are tight. It is the scope. I have checked everything, I am a little disappointed with the customer service. My buddy had a problem with his vortex, they truned it around in 5 days.

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

We are talking US Optics right? have you tried to call them? They are usually very responsive, if they are not I would be very surprised.

I set it to the factory settings, like the video showed, then fine tuned with the erek and then lifted the erek and aligned the zero with the zero hash mark then tightened the two allen screws, not sure how to set the zero stop either. I didnt clean between the first match and having to rezero, The second time, i was zeroed and it was after the match that I rechecked and noticed it was off .3 low. I wanted to get it fixed before your match. If I am doing something wrong, I dont know, when I called USO the girl was less than helpful.

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

on lining up the marks, try turning it about 5 mils. Then center the marks on the Erek and crank it back to zero. That always worked for me.

It could be me, but if it is, I am at a loss. I will try running it up to 5 mils.

I will try this. I appreciate the help. It could very well be that I am a moron. Wouldnt be the first time, I just have to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

i have had this issue before with my old uso. the delrin inside that locks the center erector screw was faulty and when you run the elevation up and brought it back the center screw would move on its own. put your cap on that lets you see the center screw. take a marker and mark the screw and erector with a line. run it up to its full adjustment and bring it back down a few times. look to see if the marks have moved. this will tell you if you have that problem. it was an easy fix at uso to replace it. never had an issue after that.

I will try this when I get home, thank you very much for this info.

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

sch2046,

Returning to zero is a very uncommon problem we have with our scopes. Lets do this... Try doing what Julio said as he's very knowledgeable with our products. If you still have a problem with your scope give me a call Monday and I will get your scope taken care of.

Re: us optics wont hold zero, help

I had the exact same problem you are experiencing. I checked everything, re-torqued everything and had some of my friends shoot groups to make sure it wasn't me.

Just when I was thinking I broke the scope it turns out my rifle didn't like my newly tweeked load. I tested some of my friend Bill's rounds which were the "team load" and the problem was fixed.

Have you been shooting rounds from the same lot of ammo or are you loading 50, shooting them then loading 50 more and heading to the range?

A little late to the punch but with the analogy, but yes. +1 These guys are top notch in my book. Whether it’s a simple t shirt order or a decked out sn3, customer service is awesome.
