Well I finally got to the range with my 308 and new S&B (I've had the 308 for a while). This trip has me both excited (great groups) and ashamed (you'll see).

I don't have any action pics from the range as I forgot my phone so I apologize for that and the crappy cell phone pictures:

^^This is a perfect example of what I do. First three shots into that teeny tiny hole and then I get jittery and pull 4/5!

This is a little better as I managed to get FOUR out of five together....

Well I guess even a blind squirrel finds his nuts every once in a while....

Hot DAMN that deserves a beer in my book! Maybe I'm really getting things together!

Aaaaaand that's more like it....

This rifle is bone-stock with the exception of sending it in to Robert Gradous for his Accurizing Package. The best groups I could get previously were ~.8 MOA center to center. You can see his contribution. The scope I got by a killer deal with Jay at Sport Optics. I can't recommend them enough and only wish they sold Seekins rings (hint hint...). Due to my own stupidity I F-ed up my first set of rings and Mr. Seekins took care of me. Now if only THEY made a ~40MOA canted mount for a DTA (hint hint). All three of these guys have a customer for life!

Handloads.
43.5gr RL15
Federal 210 pimer
FGMM brass
168gr SMK

I'm going to personally commit to 50-100rds (not counting other rifles) a weekend so hopefully when I shoot the barrel out, I'll be "worthy" of either a DTA or Gradous rafle, haha.

Re: My 308's a shooter! Me.... not so much

Before he took my rifle he shot a test group at his shack and it was about .7-.8 MOA. He didn't give me a test group post-work, but he said that using this load he got, "one damn hole." I believe him to have meant 1/4~3/8ths MOA, and the groups I got BEFORE fliers reinforce that!

-Glass/pillar bed
-Recrown
-Adjust or replace trigger
-Lap lugs if head space allows
-Lap scope rings for alignment
-Clean bore and inspect with borescope
-Clearance all bolts/fasteners
-Function testing
-Clean scope

If anyone's interested, I strongly suggest either giving him a call at 706-554-2959 or an email at [email protected].

I don't know exactly why but last weekend when I had my NF BR on top, my groups were not as good. I dunno if it was the added clarity of a 3k+ scope or the pressure of knowing I had better do my part if I had a 3k+ scope on top, haha.
