I have been talking with the Leupold marketing manager and we are discussing the VX6 1-6 illuminated that is about to hit the streets soon.

This will be using the similar fiber optic illumination system as is in the VX-R firedots which I like.

Currently there is just a standard duplex or # 4 reticle.

I think it would do very well with the 3 gun and average guy that wanted a "tactical" scope that is 1-6 power in a scope that would sell for 800 or so street price.

If:
It had a BRIGHT center dot that was 1 MOA or 2 max
Some sort of holdover reticle that was not a BDC calibrated one.
Could be as simple as a Mildot or I think ideally a TMR type of reticle.

A custom shop reticle change could be made but they currently do not have a 6x calibrated mildot or TMR.

That may change with the new Mark 6 line but they will be 1500-2K price.

I would be happy to provide some feedback to them from the members of this board.

Thanks for your time

Make it FFP with mil turrets and a reticle that has hash marks than can be used for holdovers and wind hold-offs. TMR would be ok, something more like a premier gen2 XR would be better. The fact that you loose the reticle at lower magnification is irrelevant if your illuminated dot is still visible. It would actually be an advantage IMO.

Re: Leupold VX6 1-6 wish list?

In my opinion, a FFP reticle is not very important on a 1-4x optic because you will be on 4x when you are shooting at distance. However, on a 1-6x optic, you lose so much field of view when you get to 6x that you really need the ability to have accurate holdovers at multiple zoom factors. Of course, a dot that is the right size at 1x is likely too big at 6x in a FFP scope, so it really could stand to be in the second plane.

Best case scenario: TMR in the first plane, and a 1 MOA dot in the second.

I have no use for a 1-6 with no ranging (mil-dot, etc) or bdc type reticle.

I like it even in a 1-4x because if I can see the hash marks, I will end up using them for a holdover at some point when the scope is on 1x. It'll happen, likely when trying to engage a target quickly or under stress.

I wouldn't really use the dot at anything but 1x. I like the way the premier V8 switches from the dot to illuminating the reticle at the 3x mark.

A dot with a ring around it would also work. Something similar to the Vortex PST or that new Bushnell BTR2 reticle. In some ways that is nicer since the dot is always crisp. The LED reflective dots (like in the Aimpoint) can sometimes be fuzzy or have "spikes".
