I had a friend get a threaded Beretta storm 9mm as his host for a new can. It seems this has a rotary action barrel (?) and loosens the can way too fast and caused baffle strikes right away. Is there a solution or he needs to find a new host? Just wondering. Thanks PG

At the same time I have a styer SSP 9mm pistol I understand has the same type of action is this a bad host also or is there a similar solution? I always really liked that gun would love to put a can on it. Thanks PG

Yup...the camming of the barrel may cause some issues. Are you using a can with a linear decoupling device (LID)? You may also want to put a dab of blue locktite on the threads, let it dry, then run your can. There are better hosts out there. If you like the berettas...a 92FS already has the barrel length to thread from the factory and you're in business. My can comes loose once in awhile and must be checked from time to time.

You know I dont know how his Beretta was set up just that it screwed up his baffles in the Liberty can. Of course Liberty is helping take care of it with their fantastic customer service. I ordered two Liberty cans because of what I have heard about them. Plus my friends two he got are quiet and light weight very nice. Its a shame I wanted to put on on that Styer I own. Oh well on to other host! PG

Your friend should have done some research first. It's not commonly recommended to thread PX4s for this reason. IIRC the factory Beretta silencer mounts to the front of the frame and just fits around the muzzle.

He made the mistake of trusting the goofs that work at the Dallas Berretta store. He had won a certificate and wanted to use it. I am sure the salesman new it was a bad choice I have heard they dont care. Thanks for the post. PG

I am not a fan of Beretta firearms and since the inception of the model 92 I have seen nothing that is impressive from them in the way of pistols. They are overpriced when compared to Glock, Springfield, and Smith&Wesson. Any of the named pistols with a threaded barrel will produce better results than the Storm line without doubt.

Flatland308 thanks for the confirmation. Like I said seems like the Beretta store screwed him anyway they could have at least sold him a 92. Which by the way I used to own years ago and really liked it. PG
