I need help. I got a Benny Cooley muzzle brake from JP. I went to install it and without the crush washer the brake is 180 degrees off--there are 4 holes in the top and without the washer the holes are pointed down. WITH the washer, I have to turn 270 degrees to get the holes to the to the top. Would the normal procedure on this be to either shim or try to find a thinner washer???? Logic tells me that I could make this work, but I don't feel comfortable cranking on it any harder than I already am.

Thanks....grinding that washer would be easier said than done, at least to make it uniform. I will look into the peel washers. I am not familiar with that. I work in the oil field so if it requires something besides a pipe wrench and is smaller than 2" pipe, I go brain dead.

Re: Help. Benny Cooley muzzle brake install

I feel lucky! I got the same comp for my LR 308 AP4 and got 2 crush washers because midway didn't mention it came with one, two is one. Now I have three because it did. I thought I'd try without any and it tightened to 12oclock. I have some crush washers if you need them. No peel washers though. Let me know. It should crush a whole turn. I feel your hesitation and would probably not try myself either.
