I’m having a casual chat with the guy I buy my powder and primers from. He’s a big benchrest shooter and we start to talk about primers….he ask if I have ever used the Remington BR version. I told him I’ve stuck with CCI BR’s since day one. He gave me the big speal about how the Remington’s are the only 100% computer controlled primer made, and how when you deprime the casing you can see a very even burn pattern and ash…etc etc.. They are cheap at $30 bucks a 1000. Anyone using them? Anyone see any difference? I bought 1000 just to try them out…

Re: Remington 7 ½ primers

I have had good luck with them in the 6mmbr and 308 Palma. I switched for the same reason, couldn't find cci. They seem to be smaller in diameter than other primers, which is nice with new lapua brass. Back to the point, I see no difference in group size with the 7 1/5.

Rem 7 1/2s are the primer of choice (for many) for AR-15 loads. Can't say that I notice any differences between them and the FGGM primers, or the BRs, but they are a good primer.

Just don't buy the 6 1/2s, unless you want to use them in pistol rounds.

Re: Remington 7 ½ primers

Like you, I started with Cci BR primers on day 1 and have not looked back. I have been very pleased with the consistency year after year. Please post your results and poi shift if any widen using the 71/2 primers.

Re: Remington 7 ½ primers

I have been using them for over a year with absolutey no complaints. That is kind of surprising because I consider Remington to be typically inferior. Yet ...they are always available and at the best price. It is tough to not use them

Re: Remington 7 ½ primers

I've never had a problem with Fed, CCI, or Rem.

I have not tried Win primers so I can't say anything about them.

I have been working on a 69 SMK load with Varget for a new rifle & for this rifle it shoots much better with the Rem 7 1/2 so thats what I'm going to use.

They also work the best in my .221 Fireball and 454 Casull.

My HB AR varmit 223 with light bullets likes Fed 205M's, My 308 likes Fed 210M's, & my 300WSM likes Rem 9 1/2 M's Most of my handgun's like CCI.

I've found primers do make a difference so I feed each firearm what it likes the best.
