Just recently purchased a Savage Axis 308. It is a good gun but I am wanting to upgrade the barrel. Does any one have any good ideas for barrel blanks. I would like to go with heavier bull barrel. I am new to long range shooting and looking for good advice.

Does the gun shoot? if it does I wouldnt rebarrel it.
I wouldnt buy a barrel blank, always try to get a pre contoured. takes to long to turn them down.

If you want to shoot long range with that gun get a good/great scope and top notch rings. Learn to shoot that thing. Work on good shooting habbits and improve your ability.
When you feel like you have learned how to shoot buy a Stevens or a savage and start upgrading. there are many more parts and upgrades for those two but nothing out there for the axis. You can retire that as a truck gun.
If you want to shoot long range with that gun get a good/great scope and top notch rings. Learn to shoot that thing. Work on good shooting habbits and improve your ability.
When you feel like you have learned how to shoot buy a Stevens or a savage and start upgrading. there are many more parts and upgrades for those two but nothing out there for the axis. You can retire that as a truck gun.

Well, I've not yet encountered any stories about experiences in upgrading the Axis barrel. My understanding of the product line is that the rifle is intended as a minimalist firearm designed to fill the low-price hunter rifle marketing niche. IMHO, they fit that niche quite admirably.
I can't really advise in favor of upgrading them, but honestly, who knows, maybe it would work after all. Just bear in mind that you are trying on the role of a guinea pig who's walking on thin ice, going "where no-one has gone before".
My preference would be to upgrade the more conventional current main product line Savage action, or the Stevens if the budget is an issue.

Thank you for help. I am new to long range shooting and im learning as i go. I found a local gunsmith that telling me that he can do the upgrades that i am looking for. As soon as get them done i will post pics. I am also looking for advice on a good scope or some brands that i can research. Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanx gor ur help

According to this thread on Savage Shooters, this guy had a problem with a Savage pre-fit when trying to re-barrel his Edge...
I would do some research-call Savage before buying the barrel.
