I took my Kidd supergrade 10 22 out today to Chabot for it's trial run. Sighted it in at 50 yds, put a few magazines down range to break in the barrel(as recommended), all with CCI standard velocity.
We noticed the CCI not performing as well as hoped, so we picked up some Eley from the range(mucho $$). The accuracy went way up, except for the the first shot of each mag.
This is where I need some help, or opinion.......i'll take what I can get
As I said, the first shot of each magazine consistently went high and right, then the group settled down to about 1/2 to 3/4 MOA, every time....
Needless to say, we were baffled.....
could it possibly be the bolt slamming home too hard and disrupting the first round???
Anyway, let's hear your thoughts please
Here's a pic of the target, reference the bottom 2 rows for this (bottom left is 2 mags, so an 18 shot group with 2 flyers...)
one with the tri-mag
the Kidd supergrade 10 22, with a buddy in the background on the Anschutz .17 hm2
and the Kidd before heading out
to answer a few preliminary questions
rings are tight, but this is the first rifle this scope has been on
CCI had first shot flyers, as well as the Federal, and the Eley
Did try to gently chanber the first round, same results
Did not try to load the mag with less than 10 rounds, I'll give that a try
First round flyers happened with single mags as well as the tri-mags
