I had an injury years ago, disconnected my tendon from my bicep. The surgery left me with limited pronation & supination. Other than preventing me from eating with chop sticks I cannot shoulder a long gun and hold it level. I had a vision that a thumbhole stock would work for me. I bought the rifle many years ago from my neighbor. He was retired L.A.P.D. class of 4-10-1947
I sold a few guns that I did not really have a sentimental fix on for the budget. I went to Richards’s micro fit across town and ordered a stock. Note: it would be very frustrating to deal with these people over the phone or internet. I don’t think there is a guy name Richard.
It took eight weeks to get it and when I went there it was still not done. I had to come back the next day. I ordered the scope and waited even longer.
I went to work with my die grinders, router, chop saw, and made the pillars on my friends lathe. Bedded it with Devcon, and got it roughed in. I built this for me, not anybody else and I made some mistakes. But the wood spoke to me. I Added a Timney trigger, Morgan butt pad, modified a Harris bi-pod, and sprayed twelve coats of Spies Hecker clear (sanding between two coats)
It’s close to being done; this is my first attempt at gun work. I’m sure a lot of you can pick it apart and I don’t have any problem with critique. Just thought I would take this opportunity to show it for my first post.
