Buying new rings and bases for my Kimber montana.  Basically my kimber was the only rifle that didn't have picitiney or weaver style mounts so I thought I'd switch it over in case I ever had a reason to switch a scope from one rifle to another, I could do so with minimal effort.

I'd like to do a 2 piece base for the Kimber, but I was kind of thinking a one piece would give me more flexibility as the spacing of a 2 piece base may not be correct If I ever found some reason to put a red dot sight or EO tech on the kimber.  Is there any standard on 2 piece bases in terms of the spacing of the slots when the mount is attached, or are 2 piece bases limited to mounting with rings which allow you to position them where they are needed?  The gun is a Kimber Montana .300 win mag by the way if it matters.

I had a two piece base and did not care for it. The spacing was off so you cannot swap a scope from one rifle to the other without sliding one of the rings forward a little bit. The one piece works much better and allows much more versatility. Murphys Precision will custom build any scope base you desire and they are fairly reasonable. Murphys also has a quick turn around. If anyone could make a two piece that is close to the picatinny spec I bet it would be Cameron Murphy.
