Im having a problem deciding on what to do with the Remington 700 I have. Its a 1962 4 digit, 3006 with the factory 20" barrel in mint condition. The question is I want to build a m24 clone, but cant seem to make up my mind on if I should tear this ol girl apart (with it being in great shape and the 4 digit) or just get another donor action. What do you guys think?

Re: Remington: TO build or NOT to build.

Get another donor, long range rifles are cool and fun, but with them comes the rifle "ADHD". Plus a good M24 build might take years to finish. Your -06 is prob perfect as is, even with character dents in the walnut.

Look at the rifle sales here on the hide, someone may have a project that is complete or near completion.

Its not that im attached to it, its just hard to tear apart a classic. Id be willing to trade it off for a heavy barrel rig and all. I know the older actions are desirable and this one is even cut for stripper clips. Make a good build action.
