Which larue mount is the right one for my rifle

Hey guys,

I got an LWRC Repr and a 4-16X50 scope with 30mm tube(says on the box). The scope mount is the only thing I need in order to complete the rifle. I have no clue which one of these mounts is the right one for me, I'm new to precision/long range shooting and have always proffered iron sights but it's now time to get into rifles with scopes:D.

I would like to be able to keep the rear back up iron sight installed and not have to remove it because of the scope.

Which Larue mount is the right one for my rifle? Anyone have experience with multiple mounts?

So many options, I'm lost. There's some info there but being new to this precision stuff I have no clue. I'm only familiar with Acogs and Eotechs. Thought this would be the best place to ask this question since I'm sure some of you own different variations of these Larue mounts.

Some specs on rifle:
-.308 caliber
-Planning on using it from 0-750 yards, 1000 would be pushing it, I definitely don't plan on doing anything over 1000 yards with it.

How about none? ADM

I have a number of Larue mounts, and they work... but I've changed my new buys over to ADM mounts. I feel the design is better while the quality is just as high.

However, unless you have a continuous top rail, you will want a cantilever mount, so toss out the LT107 LT111 and LT112.

Next, consider your scope- how much elevation travel does it have? If you are a little low on elevation travel, the LT158 with 10MOA cant is your mount.

If you do not need the 10MOA, you can get the LT104, or if you are mounting a very long scope, particularly long from the turrets back you can get the LT139 to push your scope even further forward.

Now, I don't know if all REPRs are set up the same... it kind of looks like they may have a continuous top rail. If in-fact yours does, you only have two you need to look at. The LT111 and LT112. If your scope is a bit limited in elevation travel, get the 112. If you have plenty, get the LT111.

Tell us what scope you have if you don't know how much travel it has in it and we'll be better informed to give you advise.

Math wise: LT 104. But call them and ask them. The 104 works on my Larue Stealth upper with "cutsie" snap rail protectors. The scope I'm using is a Nightforce 3.5-15x50. So that is what I measured out and bought and it worked oky-dok-kay the first time. Hoe often does that happen? Everytime when you ask questions, research, and buy from people who do this for a living as well as shoot; not just helpful people anwsering phones.

I have a REPR.. use a cantilever mount..keep your mount on the receiver not on the transition part.....I went with a 20 MOA downward angle Larue mount..But the ADM work wonders also...

I'd go with the LT-104, as you don't have a monolithic upper.
Not to turn this into a brand war but I'll leave my two cents. I used a Larue for a while and it worked fine. That being said, I didn't like the way it mared the rail. I also didn't like that the tension needed to be adjusted when moving from one platform to another, or over time for that matter.
I have since replaced my Larues' with Bobro mounts. As nice as the Larue mounts are, the Bobros' are in a class of their own. I think it'd be worth it for you to look into them. They are worth the extra $$ any day of the week.

I'll have to look up Bobro mounts, If there as good as everyone claims... No really they must be great and I'm going to go check 'em out. This is the 2nd time I've heard of them but never have remembered to look at them. So I went Larue, it just seemed easiest, but I'm alway looking for lighter, stronger, smarter and faster!

The LT104 will suit your needs well. Also look at the Bobro. I have the LT104's, a Bobro, and two ADM's. The Bobro is awesome and the best of the 3 I listed in my opinion. The LaRue is a very close second, with the ADM bringing up the rear.

In my opinion, if I were in the market for mounts, I wouldn't even consider the ADM after owning them. After comparing them to the LaRue and Bobro, they aren't in the same class.

Really think so?

I think the ADM beats the Larue out based on their lever design and the tool-less adjustment that will never need re-adjustment or re-torquing. I haven't had a bobro in my hands yet but it sounds like I may want to look into buying one for the next mount I need.

I got a Millet TRS-1 4-16x50 (30mm tube) from a friend for $200, scope is brand new and being a n00b I feel it's exactly what I need. I was planning on a Nightforce F1 from the begging but I'll wait til the end of the summer to pick that one up.

So I've narrowed it down to 3:
LT111 or LT112 or LT104. Which of these 3 is the right one?

Call Larue. They make the best mounts. I am not a huge fan of their service and attitude. But they do make great mounts. And their rail clips are tops.

I would get a 20 MOA Larue.

Used the SPR-E (LT139) with the TRS-1 followed quickly by the NF F1 with good success. I've always shot nose-to-charging-handle so thats part of the motivation for the extra eye relief. I have also used an LT104 and it worked just fine.

Larue are fine but ADM and Bobro are just as good.
ADM has more configurations and are cheaper.
I have used all three and pretty much only buy ADM now (for QD).

The one thing I'm concerned about with the LT 158 and the others is where the ring screws are situated. How badly do they block your view of the elevation turret? Those of you that have one what do you think?

I don't know how far you're going to want to shoot, but with 65moa adjustment range in your scope, you have the very real possibility of being limited to 800-900 yards. MAYBE even less than that depending how far up or down from mechanical zero you are.

I would get a mount with at least 10moa built into it. 20 would be even better; 30 would be excessive for your scope and reasonable application.


IN OTHER WORDS- the 112 or 158. I've recommended the 158 to a number of guys running DPMS .308's and they've all been happy. It has I believe 10moa built in, which SHOULD get you out to 1k yd if your actual zero is close to mechanical.

That is not even remotely a problem.

I'm not one of the kool-aid drinker types, so in the beginning, I tried the ADM. I figured I would give them a try since they were cheaper and seemed to have a good design. At first I was happy. Then I needed another mount, so I thought I'd give them LaRue a try. After that, it's hard going back to my ADM's. I don't think they are bad, I just prefer the LaRue's over the ADM's. However, the Bobro's have a tool-less design that will pretty much bolt up to any rail.

I have a 6-20x scope in the Bobro mount that I use on my Bushy Varminter. The scope not only sits atop this rifle, but it also gets used on others during load development. It locks up tight to all my rifles, and best of all, it returns to zero when I place it back on the Bushy. I haven't done enough return-to-zero testing to give you a definite measurement, but I would guess it returns to within .25" or so.

Does the LT104 have at least 10MOA built into it?

LT-135 is kind of tall. You won't get a good cheek weld. LT-104 is just right, same cheek weld as iron sights. LT-104 has no cant.

Whether or not your BUIS fits depends on how fat your BUIS and eyepieces are. If you have low profile rear BUIS like Troy or ARMS, you should be fine.

What do you mean by no cant?
