Do people bed these stocks? I phoned McMillan and they recommended skim bedding on top of the paint. They said do not modify the carbon shell.

This doesn’t sound durable to me though- but I’ve never bedded a stock.

What’s everyone doing?

No harm in removing some material from the stock. If the bedding is too thin it will just end up flaking and chipping out in the thin spots. Also removing some stock material will help the bedding stick better.

Personally I rough up the surface on those EDGE stocks. Not deep, just enough to make me feel better about the epoxy sticking. The surface seemed pretty slick before roughing it up. Didn't seem like the bedding would have held as well if I'd done nothing.

Just don't rough it up rear of the tang line on the tang area

Dont wana scratch the perty paint job outside the action area.

Expensive stock for your first bed job man good luck. Using a mill for clean up right? No dremelin'
