Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

More to do with the Eotech rather than the sights. Most sights are the same height. I have the Troy industries and I HATE them. Windage adjustments are a PITA and there is no elevation on the rear sight, Junk IMO. They give a true co-witness threw my eotech 512 though.

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

I use an EoTech on my M4, not sure of the model, it is a few years old and has the NV settings and uses 2 AA batteries, if that helps.

Anyway, the KAC 600m flip sight works fine with the standard height fixed M4 front sight. If you don't want the fixed front, just make sure the one you get is the same height. It works perfectly, with the rear flipped up and the sight on, the center of the reticle rests just over the front post. I can't imagine it being any better.

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

Basically any standard height flip ups should work, rears are generally designed to work with a fixed front sight, fronts are designed to work with those rears, there are models for mounting on railed gas blocks and models for mounting on forearm rails figure out which you need and make sure the one you get is right. Eotech offers standard and lower 1/3rd model sights, this has nothing to do with the height of the BUIS. I believe there are some LP models designed for some oddball AR-like rifles they will say so in the descriptions, avoid those.

Troy windage is supposed to be hard to adjust, its A1 style, if you use your rifle hard your windage will never be inadvertently adjusted. Adjust elevation on the front. Troy's flip up BUIS are designed as combat sights, not match rifle sights, they are meant to be set and left alone. Troy appears to be the only manufacturer designing their sights to ride neglected on a rifle and be in adjustment after many rides in vehicles, cases, and anywhere else the rifle may move against something which I find happens allot in the real world.

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

Plastic sights are fine for toy guns - they came on my M&P 15-22 MOE and they are acceptable for that application. When I installed a Spectre DR on a 6920, I looked at several rear BUIS and went with Troy because it's rugged and foolproof. Preferred the standard FSB for the front.

When you see how many major companies private label the Troy for their rifles, that might be clue.

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

HAHA, very true. Seeing as Magpul does make "some" good stuff, I was just inquiring about it..

Has anyone seen a Troy front sight PN: 1614001-6? When I google it, it comes up on various websites. But it doesnt show up on Troys website.. Is this an older model??

Also, are ALL of Troys sights the same heigth?

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

I use a set of Midwest Industries flips. There are two heights for a front flip sight. If you have a railed gas block then you need a railed gas block front sight, which is taller. If you are running a free float or monolithic type rail system and are mounting the front sight to that one, then order the standard height. Unless you are runing a riser under your EOTECH I cant think of a reason why any set of sights wouldnt co-witness

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

Thanks Zebra!

I see that Eotech has some scopes with a 7mm riser built into them. This will give you a lower 1/3 Co-Witness.. If you go with the plain Eotech scope, the top of your front sight will be dead center of your glass (im guessing where the red dot is)...
Man I wish I had someone who had both of these setup so I can see which will be better for me..
I have a set of Troy sights inbound!!

Re: Eotech/ Back Up sight Question

I run matech 200-600m issue BUIS rears on all of my ARs. I have had no problems with them and you can find them for ~$45 here and on ebay new in the wrapper.

They aren't sexy, but they plain work. And having elevation adjustment may come in handy.
