What would you build if....

Re: What would you build if....

Either the 6.5x47 or the 260 just because Lapua makes the brass. I don`t think Hornady brass is that good as they are the only manufacture of the 6.5CM.

Re: What would you build if....

Bob, I would go with the Creedmore. I have all three, and the Creedmore is my favorite. It will do what the others will with factory ammo from Hornady for less money. I'm even thinking about selling my 6.5 x 47 Lapua. At $25.00 for 20 rounds verses $55.00 to $65.00 for 20 rounds for Lapua ammo its a no brainer. 260 ammo is not far behind. I know you can hand load cheaper, but it's nice to have the afordable option. I have had my Creedmore out to 1 K with no issues. The factory Hornady 140 Amax's shoot very well. I know there will be other opinions which I respect, this one is mine. Hope that helps.

Re: What would you build if....

The 6.5 Creedmore is a very good / solid choice. I worked with a guy yesterday that has a 6.5CM I built last year. He confirmed the zero at 100 while he shot it through the chrono. 2,800 fps with the 140 AMAX and 8.5 mils to 1k. He made 3 consecutive shots/hits at 1k, for the first time. Very accurate cartridge and very accurate ammo from Hornaday.

My 260 runs 139's at 2,850 just for comparison.

Like Ozzy said, it's a no brainer.

Re: What would you build if....

I'd sell it and get a 7mm. Then I'd build either a 7-08, 7-08AI, 7mm Creedmoor or a 284.

If you insist on the 6.5mm, I think I'd do a 260AI. You just gotta love that 35° shoulder...

Re: What would you build if....

a very very smart feller said he used to shoot the 260 improved and just went to plain ole 260. either 260 or creed would be my choice. i reload so i run 260. i know some guys practice with the factory creed and run reloads at matches, which sounds like a logical idea so your not spendin a ton of time reloading.there is a reason so many people are running the 6.5's.... its just a great speed/low powder usage /projectile variety class.flip a quarter your gonna win either way

Affirmative sir... I'm planning on heading down in the end of November or the beginning of December, if Mr. Gradous is available at that time. So far I have the barrel, I'm waiting on the Jewell trigger from the group buy on here, the McMillan A-5 is about 2 weeks out, then it has be sent over to Terry Cross for the KMW hardware and I still have to put in my order with Surgeon for the action and bottom metal.

Re: What would you build if....

Why don't you start a thread "my custom 260 build" (if a 260 is what you end up choosing) and take everyone along for the ride? From the Barrel all the way to posting load development groups with thoughts along the way. Sounds like you have all the right parts on the way. I'd subscribe.

Re: What would you build if....

You made a wise choice, heres one of my 260s
300 yds

Stiller Tac 30
Bartlein Barrel 19"
260 Rem
Ross Brake
Manners T5a Molded Desert Sand
PTG DBM
Jewell Trigger
Sightron 6-24x50 LRMOA

This is with Hornady 140gr BTHP
H4350
New 7-08 Brass, so it still needed to fire form
The top Left group is 5 shots, Measures 3/4" CTC I think it can do better judging by the horizontal stringing.
I took it out this past weekend and was able to put 5 into a little over a half inch at 300
