Anyone ever shoot this type of SK Rifle Match ammo? What was your impression of it. I can buy a couple cases of it but have no idea what it's worth or how it compairs to the new SK/Wolf ammo types. Head stamp is SK not the Lapua circle cross hair and the bullet has a flat nose. Donald

Re: Older SK Jadg ammo questions

Well I'm going to try it out in a couple of my match 22's and a couple trainers tomorrow afternoon. Will report as to how good the stuff is. Price wise this stuff is less than half of what the current SK/Lapua Rifle Match sells for so cost is great quality is the only unknown.

OK, so whats the deal? Does it shoot? AND...if it does, where can I get some.....allways up for some decent .22 ammo..and what are you shooting it in..

Re: Older SK Jadg ammo questions

It looks pretty old but I had some 12 year old Eley and it shot as good as the new stuff and your lube on the bullets looks much better than my Eley that had discolored so I say go for it if your gun likes it and the price is right. It's about $7./box now to buy it new.

Re: Older SK Jadg ammo questions

Well it's not all that impressive. I shot the ammo in five rifles and tried to shoot in two High Standard Pistols, I say tried as it would not feed into in either High Standard. The bullets are large, like bigger than Lapua Midas L and would not chamber in some of the rifles without pushing it in with the bolt, neither pistol slides would close on it. I did not test if at all in the pistols. In three rifles the groups fired were so large that I did not even measure them. One rifle the ammo shot some very small groups but no better than Wolf Match Target of Lapua Midas L. Problem was there are quite a few fliers and fliers kill it for me. I had several miss fires in the Kimber and just gave up at that point and finished the range trip with my Garand. Rifles tested were a heavy barrel Remington 40X, two different Remington standard barreled 40X, on Kimber 82G and one Sako Quad with a Lilja barrel. Only the Sako has a replacement barrel and shot the best groups, all other rifles have factory barrels with modified triggers and bedded stocks. Three of these rifles have won first place in 22 Bench rest matches and one has won a second place ribbon so the rifles are not the problem. I'd by this ammo for good plinker/ squirrel killer ammo in a bolt gun but would not try it in a semi auto unless you have a huge chamber. The bullets are big and the ammo chambers harder than Midas L and if you've ever tried that in a tight chambered rifle you'll know what I'm talking about.

Re: Older SK Jadg ammo questions

Rimfire rifles are finicky and buying even your favorite go-to ammo without trying a couple test lots is risky and even with mid-grade ammo over $7./box I don't venture far without a test run and usually try a fewdifferent test lots before buying a case before each season.

My buddy has Calfee guns that cost many thousands and can shoot one hole groups but change the lot on that $20. Eley and it's a shotgun.
