Shot some 1000 yd .308 today with 175 FGMM, some with newer brown box,
some with the older blue/white box. The brown box required 3 more minutes of elevation than the blue/white box.....same conditions.
Anyone else experienced this?

Take a picture of these boxes...

I've ran a good bit of federal gold medal, I've got 10 cases waiting for me at my brothers.

The boxes are their normal red federal premium boxes, I've never seen or heard of what you're describing.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you

Re: "New" FGMM-175 vs "Older"

Good question, George63. I went to a precision rifle class and took some of "new" FGMM. One of the first things we did was
chrono our rifles. Mine was 75fps slower than the "blue/white" box I have been shooting for years!!! Thought the chrono must be off, but the new dope was right on. Clocked them side by side when I got home (results above).

Does anyone have inside info at Federal to address this?

Re: "New" FGMM-175 vs "Older"

There are two FGMM 175s; the 308, and the 7.62x51...

Is the "new" stuff you're talking about say 308 or 7.62x51? For whatever reason, the headstamps are different too. The 308 says FC, and the 7.62x51 just has two numbers denoting year of manufacture.

I would guess the x51 stuff would be slower, as SAAMI allows for higher pressure in 308. I would guess the x51 stuff is GTG in any M1A or military rifle, whereas the 308 might be a bit warm and hard on op rods...just guessing though.

Haha, I opened this thread wondering why I didn't know what the new FGMM was.

I feel like it's been forever since the current brownish box has been out, haven't seen the silver box stuff in retail for quite a while now.

Can't believe you guys are just now discovering it. You guys must have hoarded a LOT of the old stuff.
