Berger 175 tactical OTM

Re: Berger 175 tactical OTM

I tested these for Berger in my GAP Hospitaller and I can say without a doubt it is the best 175 grain bullet I have ever used. Tested them side by side with Sierra 175's out to 822 yards and there was no contest the Bergers blew the Sierra's away.
I loaded them to max mag length of 2.885 usind Lapua brass, CCI 250, Varget.
If they don't live up to what I said send what's left to me and I'll buy them!

Re: Berger 175 tactical OTM

I have used them in Bryan's Loaded Tactical Ammo... the Applied Ballistics 175gr. At 1000 yards I added about .3 mil gain on both my windage and elevation when compared to a standard 175gr SMK.

I also used them at the CRC competition last month and tied for 2nd with em. Top 308, so they work pretty good. The loaded stuff is very well done, just expensive, so I only use them sparingly.

Re: Berger 175 tactical OTM

Yes, they are priced a bit more than smk.... it was 48 buck per hundred plus shipping. I can get smk 175's for 32 bucks per hundred. Im going to try and reach beyond 1k with the berger and the newer alliant 2000 powder. with the increased bc and reported extra FPS with the powder im gonna see what I can do. congrats on the 2nd place!

Re: Berger 175 tactical OTM

I've made the switch from 155 Scenars to the 175 Berger OTMs and I have to say the Bergers are shooting really well. One I dialed in to the 1K plate I got 4 out of 6 hits on a 12" square plate. My current load is 43.5 gr of Varget in Lapua brass, CCI 200 primer and OAL of 2.800", 2.178" with the Hornady comparitor. My load is running 2750 fps out of a Krieger 24" 11.25 twist barrel and is 9.3 Mil to 1K. I even dialed in to the 1740 target today and got a hit on the 3rd shot. (27.4 Mil)

BTW, I have also discovered the Applied Balistics app with the custom curves does a very good job of calculating dope for this bullet. Yes, this is one of the more expensive bullets, but if you get more hits, you shoot less often.
