I have a friend who has asked me to sell a rifle for him. He's not a gun guy and has never fired it, he bought it from someone going through a divorce to help them out. He's ordered a custom hunting rifle and is selling some guns to pay for it.

It's a Savage model 10 in a Choate stock. Farrell base, unknown rings, Harris BRM 6"-9" and a Leupold 3.5-10x40mm Mk4 PR with a Mildot reticle.

Any help you guys could provide in determining a value would be greatly appreciated. Here are a few pics, the rifle appears to be in good shape.

Re: Need help from the Savage guys

I may be way off, but if he can find the right buyer that wants a rifle built like this he could probably get $ 1210.00.
Keep in mind that with the economy and unemployment like it is, it is more of a buyers market and not a sellers market.

I have a similar setup but I figured the following for a used rig like this.

450.00 Rifle
200.00 Stock
80.00 Base
30.00 Unknown rings
450.00 Scope

I might be way off base but I think it is fairly close. Good luck to you and your friend.

I think those stocks are only about $180 new.

I would sell the leupold and the harris separately, as both bring good $$$ on ebay usually.

Rifle, stock, base & rings probably somewhere in the $600-700 range.

Re: Need help from the Savage guys

I'd only pay 800-850 max! I love Savage but they just don't have the resale, I buy Savages to keep them because if you go to sell your gonna get hit hard. 1200 is definitely a little lofty.

Re: Need help from the Savage guys

I agree with the above posts. Try to sell the glass and bipod separately. You never know- the right buyer might come along and want it the way it's set up now for an agreed price. It really depends on his timeframe and if he's willing to just sell it at whatever price the market will bring.
