Just what the title says I am looking for a good drag bag for my boltgun...The rifle is in a AICS 2.0 with 22" barrel but would like the ability to haul something longer if needed and I like quality equipment..any and all advice is appreciated..

Re: drag bag choices

Tac Ops they make two different lengths that may be a good option. I love mine and they are tough as nails and well laid out.

Re: drag bag choices

Unless you are dead set on a drag bag, I would look at other options. Drag bags are nice for long barreled rifles, and they have lots of pockets and pouches to stow gear, but the bag tends to get heavy. Next thing you know you are lugging around a frickin seabag

Tac-ops, Eagle and Eberlstock have great designs based on your method of carry. If you will be humping the mountains, then something like the Eberlstock Gunslinger would be perfect. The Eagle Hybrid folds into a mat and also has backpack straps.
If you will actually be connecting that bag to your leg and dragging it across the ground, I am sure either one of the three companies have something for you.

Re: drag bag choices

No I will not be dragging it through mountains and the like but do like the feature of folding into a mat like the eagle hybrid you mentioned I will look into that one for sure...

Re: drag bag choices

The Eagle Mat/bag is great. I have one and I love the thing. That being said good luck finding one these days. I think that once Blackhawk took Eagle over they pretty much stopped producing gear under the Eagle label. Don't know for sure, call it a hunch. They don't even seem to show up for auction either, guess too many people won't get rid of them, I know I won't. If you do find one of their mat/bag or just their drag bag (I have both), get it, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm not sure and maybe I am full of shit, but I haven't seen Eagle gear available at many of the tactical gear vendors that I shop at like Triad and SKD. They always used to have Eagle stuff and lately it is impossible to find. Even looking at Eagles own website, you will find that they have trimmed their product line quite a bit. If I am wrong about this then by all means correct me and tell me who has Eagle gear in stock.

Re: drag bag choices

The Eagle looks real nice but I have not found one in stock anywhere maybe they were taken over by Blackhawk..The Tac-Ops is very nice also is Liberty Optics a good place to buy it from any other suggestions would be great...

Re: drag bag choices

Eagle was purchased by ATK a few years ago, not blackhawk. Blackhawk was later also purchased by ATK. The Eagle line was ten gutted of all the good stuff, and production of the remaining items was moved to the Dominican Republic. Eagle and Blackhawk are still separate companies.

All of the Eagle items we still have in stock are made in the USA. When they are gone that's the end of it here at Triad.

Re: drag bag choices

Check this one out from Voodoo Tactical. Carries the rifle safely, drag bag, shooting mat. SKU: MS-15-9334-Black

I've been checking these out as well and I really like this for the price and what ya get.

Thanks for clearing that up Triad. I knew that it was something like that. I have heard good things abot the Tac-Ops bag.

They are good quality kit. The stitching is reliable & clean, and the design lends itself well to a variety of applications. It isn't up there with a $300+ piece of gear, but then again, it isn't price at that level either. This is more than adequate for 95% of the shooters out there. It is a good seller & feedback has been positive.

Hope this helps...

+1. this is sage advice. i have a tacops drag bag and love it, but he's right. its now a bloated seabag and i need to get rid of some stuff.

also right about eberlestock gunslinger and similar rigs. might be a better choice. i am currently saving pennies for an eberlestock gunslinger II. food for thought.

I have one of the generation 5 olive drab large TacOps drag bags and it was worth every penny. i dont baby it, it gets used, and it looks new still. thats after 3 years of moderately heavy use. i would definitely recommend them. Mike R makes some great stuff, great company to deal with, too.

I have the Blackhawk long gun mat/bag combo.
http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Long-Gun-Pack-Mat-wHawkTex,698,1396.htm
So far, I'm not a huge fan. It's not very good as a bag, and not great as a mat.
The *features* are nice. It has shoulder straps for carrying (along with a regular handle), a pouch positioned right at the top of the mat, some webbing or something for locking your bipod, etc... It's not put together in an easy way to use.
Something as simple as putting the rifle in the bag is a hassle.
I'm not sure if the other "bag/mat" combo deals are the same, but so far I kinda wish I just had a bag and mat separately.
