Get a Camelback... They work great, hold 200 oz., and do not mess with your hips when you walk alot... They are worth their weight in gold..

Canteens r used only for last resort now. Military uses camel baks. U can get day packs for the field and they usually have hose holes so it stays in ur pack in shade. There vary convient

If you go the Camelback route, go with Source instead. Much easier to clean, and they don't have the plastic taste of the other. I've owned both and now I run 2 Source military 3L bladders on hikes, and 1 Source USMC 3L pack when shooting.

Camelbaks can't always be used, and dont lead to good water discipline, Or if your required to carry canteens by your unit.

Where did you find these? I looked online and found good reviews, but only one source to purchase from in the UK.

Where did you find these? I looked online and found good reviews, but only one source to purchase from in the UK.

We carry just the bladders from Source. They are easy to use in comparison to the CB ones. There are one, two, and three liter options.

Look under eberlestock accessories. Same Source bladders
but for less money. No reason to pay more than necessary.

I use a HPG. I run it on molle though it could probably be adapted to work on a regular belt too. If I was going for regular belt use only I'd go mil surplus. Probably got an extra if you want to pay shipping for it.

To the OP, I found a Mil surplus type canteen pouch for $6 or so in that hidden, corner rack at my local gun shop. I'm sure your's has one too. Sure, camelbacks are great for extended time periods, but when I'm out doing something like a 90 minute hike with the dogs, a canteen is all I need to carry.
As for the flapping against your hip...well, that's just part of the deal. I carry it over my tailbone. As long as I'm not running, it's not a hindrance.
