Ar15 all metal round handguard

Re: Ar15 all metal round handguard

I would strongly urge you to consider one with ventilation around it. Without the holes for ventilation, when the barrel gets hot, so does the handguard. Also, the holes aid in gripping the forend. Every metal forend I have had without holes, very quickly got holes put into them, or was replaced.

The only solid handguard I have without holes is an Alexander Arms one that looks like it is carbon fiber, but I think it is something like G10/fiberglass, or something like that. It is damned tough, looks great, and doesn't seem to transmit heat at all like the solid metal ones do. I really like that one. But, with that said, I would think that one of those handguards with holes in it would be even better.

DPMS makes an all aluminum round handguard, as does Hogue. DPMS offers a vented version also; the Hogue is available with or without the overmoulded (aka rubber) cushion.

Think there are a few others but those are the 2 I think of immediately.

Re: Ar15 all metal round handguard

RRA makes all aluminum, non-vented handguards from pistol through rifle lengths...but they have no provision for adding rail sections unless you "DIY" the job (similar if not identical to the DPMS units mentioned above). Similarly, Hogue makes an all aluminum round handguard that has a soft, overmolded rubber grip across the middle section of the handguard, but again, no provision for adding rails. YHM (Yankee Hill) also makes a nice, knurled, non-vented free float handguard...no rails once again.

I'm not sure about any solid, metal/alum., round handguards with provisions for adding rails.

Good luck on your quest...let us know what you end up with.
