Anyone use the Berger 175 gr Match Hunting VLD for hunting in their 308? Looking for load data, trying to match the Federal Gold 175 gr we use in the department. Just got into reloading, I've been using IMR 4831 in my other loads. Thanks.

Any variety of 4831 is going to be too slow burning for 175's in a .308Win.

Varget, RL15, IMR4064 would be better powders.

I would go with Varget. Look for the "sweet spot" to be around 43.5 gr of powder. The FGMM 175 gr is 2600 fps (advertised). Obviously you'll need to see if this works well in your rifle but the above load gives me 2618 fps through my 5-R milspec with great accuracy. Doesn't seem to care whether it's winter or summer either.

My load to match the Fed Match is Fed brass, winny standard rifle primers, 175 smk with 42.5 grains of Varget......runs the same point of impact out past 700 for me as the Federal factory loads.
