This load was chrono'd over a PVM21 chrono and fired from from a stock Remington 5R receiver & 24" barreled action in an AICS chassis.
The load itself is some 40 year old R&P brass with primer pockets uniformed using Sinclair primer uniformer and Sinclair flash hole uniformer and deburr tools. Cases were neck sized by a Redding Competition bushing die and then final neck sized and F/L sized to net 0.0015" headspace for my 5R by a Redding Type S Match F/L bushing die then trimmed to 2.005". The Hornady 168gr AMAX bullets we seated using a Redding Competition bullet seater with a max. COAL of 2.810" over 44.1gr of IMR 4895.
This load showed a ten shot string average of 2,730fps at 1,500ft with 70F air temp. The chrono data is pretty reliable as my dial-ups for 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 yards are all perfect using JBM's calculator. This round is supersonic all the way past 1,170 yards.
Hope this helps!
BTW, I also have a batch of newer BHM (Win) brass prepped the same way but these cases need 44.7gr of IMR 4895 for the about the same of maybe a few feet more velocity. But using 47.9gr of RL-17 netted me 20fps+ but I don't like how that loads shoots out of my 5R as well.
