I have searched and read a lot of threads on this subject. Like post below by Lindy:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but basically scope height above bore is an issue at relatively short ranges, and matters less at longer ranges</div></div>

I'm having to go higher than I'd normally go on new 308 rifle with 26" barrel and used almost exclusively at 600 and 800 yards.

Assuming rifle is zeroed for 100 yards and I know my come ups for 200, 300, 600 and 800 is there really a problem with hitting desired poa. Even at 100 yards it would seem that if I have rifle properly zerro for that range using specific load it should hit desired POA every time.

I used relevent equation to determine ring height at 1.125 which should have left me 3mm between objective barrel and objective scope cover which is 62mm, Premier scope. Cover was still barely touching barrel and scraped against barrel when I opened it.

Action is a BAT tactical action with 20 moa built in, I don't know if that 20 moa had anything to do with it.

Re: Scope height question

I believe he is meaning that getting a good scope height reading to plug into a ballistic program is more importand for shots closer, inside 100 yards as you are offsetting for the height above bore more, than for the longer shots.

Not that having the scope a little higher will be a prohblem with making hits.

Re: Scope height question

if u have butler creek type caps you may try sanding them a bit, but u can only get so much clearance that way. but from hearing u say that the cover is rubbing when you open it you may not be able to get the clearance u need this way. if it's premiers covers u may have to bump up to the next ring size

Re: Scope height question

The solution seems to the Spuhr mounts in l.18". They will give me 6mm of clearance at the end. Problem is the bubble is on the wrong side. Don't think I'll be able to see it very well if at all. I had used a Holland bubble before and not sure where I would mount with one piece Spuhr mount.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Are they rubbing when opened to the side, BC caps on my M24 do the same thing on some angles, just have to find the right spot?</div></div>

I think the 1.125 rings are just a little to short.

Re: Scope height question

Ronas, do you need a tilted mount?

One solution could be to mount any one of our 0 Moa mounts reverse and mount the Horus ACI to the side of the mount.
Horus ACI have bubble Level built in

No tilted mount needed. Just need your bubble mounted the correct side for me which is right hand side for left hand shooter. Time constraints are not going to let me wait for Dianne to order the number of pieces you discussed in PM.

I do have a Holland bubble level. I wonder if I would have enough space to mount one of those, they are .6" wide.

Yes it's a premier.

I understand that you most probably do not make your equipment for people who are left handed for financial reasons, i.e., we are to small a percentage of prospects to serve. I did talk to Dian at Mile High and it did not sound like they would be willing to buy min. order of 15 to 30 pieces.

I am not a machinist so I do not know how big of a deal it is to have a machine make a mount with the buble on the right hand.

Your scope mount is very nice and if it were for left handers I would buy one, and I still may buy it anyway. However, if Richard Near has an Alphamount in a height that will work I will buy one and use my Holland bubble mount.
