If i'm not mistaken, M118 is 7.62 whilst FGMM is .308
Something to do with case thickness and chamber pressures, or shoulder length/pitch (maybe im thinking of .223/5.56mm). I'm sure someone will correct me and tell me i'm stupid soon enough

my vote is to roll your own.handloads will put both of these loads to shame in both accuracy and speed.if that's not possible,check black hills 175grn. loading.pretty goog stuff there.FGMM is usually fairly accurate but very slow and m118lr is just garbage.shame they issue this shit to our snipers.i've seen m118lr turn 1/4 minute guns into 1" anda 1/4 guns with velocity all over the place.buy what ever shoots best in your gun if you can't reload.if you want to know more about m118lr ammo,call gary schneider,he builds barrels for the USMC sniper rifles.he'll tell ya how bad it is.

'99 to '03 M118LR was pretty dang good.
'04 or so the velocity was down and ammo didn't shoot so well out of my rifle.
Really depends on what year you are buying. Not sure I'm ready to throw all the M118LR out.

Agree although most of mine is a bit older 118lr shoots just fine for me. Holds 1/2 moa all the way out. If I am shooting factory ammo the ga arms 175 match is about the best cheap way to keep good accuracy in bulk for my rifles.

FCS is right on target here (no pun intended). Old M118LR was good, afterwards there were problems here and there. There's a reason it's cheaper and being sold as surplus.
For the best value, get with one of the ammo vendors on here and see what they can do for you. You'll get better ammo at a cheaper price than FGMM in the long run.

That is a good deal on the 2008, as for how it shoots I do not know yet, I have some of it and have not done any testing. I am going to run it through the chorono and see how it compares to my '03 that I am shooting now.

I had some 2010 118LR and it's was 50-70fps faster then any of my 175 FGMM and just as accurate. Sadly the harder military primers were hit and miss in my gun so I sold that lot.
My McCourt loaded ammo splits the difference on velocity but is just as accurate, if not more accurate then both.
My vote is to get the McCourt loaded stuff.

I think FGMM is more consistent, easier to find, and shoots as well as my best handloads.

I wouldn't buy M118LR unless it is significantly cheaper and more accurate in your rifles.
Federal trumps my handloads only for availability (on the road) and convenience. For me time = money. I have more time than money.

Federal loads both 308 Winchester 175gr FGMM, and 7.62x51mm 175gr FGMM.
