Does MOA built into rail effect ring height meausement equation?
I have rail with 20 MOA built in and I'm having trouble finding the height ring I need. Things just don't seem to falling into place. I know part of the problem is the large 62mm objective cover on my premier.

I am using the equation cited in one of the threads.

It should not. Step 1. states "measure the height of the FRONT of your base/rail from the barrel" which is rail's lowest end.

Re: MOA built into rail effect ring height meausement

It certainly affected it with my full length AR rail since it tilts down the front of the scope. Not much but I did notice a difference when compared to a 0 moa base.

Yes it can effect neccesary ring height, depending on barrel profile and just how close the obj would be with a flat base, how far forward the optic is mounted also matters when dealing with a canted base, a sunshade can come into contact due to cant if the obj is close enough and barrel taper minimal or non existent.

it effected me in a big way...but I wasn't worried so much about front clearance as I was about the ocular being low enough to provide me with an adequate cheek weld...with a 20moa rail it was way too high, even with seekins Low rings. i dropped to a 0moa HD rail, from egw, that's already built lower

That pretty addresses my situation. I have Krieger #17 heavy varment barrel, 1.25' to .900" and a sunshade on Premier with 56mm obj. lens. cover is 62mm.

Since experimenting with rings I have found higher rings like 1.35" should provide more comfort. Rifle is based on AICS chassis so comb high no issue.

Almost all LR setups include a raised cheek piece of some sort. Built in, Karsatan, stock pack, or duck tape & mouse pad. If you can get a good cheek weld w/o any help then you have done good.
